Welcome to Hands Up Education
Offering private tuition to primary school children in the comfort of their own homes.
Covering South-East Wales, Bristol and the surrounding areas.
A Tailored Approach to Learning
I am passionate about creating lessons that engage the student from the beginning of the session; therefore I use a range of teaching styles to suit all learners. Having gained a good awareness of the range of issues that affect pupils’ learning, I believe that my strengths lie in my organisational skills and detailed, differentiated planning for each session.
In order for all students to learn, carefully constructed sessions will be planned to ensure that each student receives a personalised service. With private tuition, students are given one to one attention throughout the duration of their lessons, which enables them to ask any questions and focus on specific areas of a subject that they may need help with.
Improved Performance in School
My aim is to teach children in an informal setting, in a fun and engaging way.
As children become more confident in a subject, their motivation to do well increases. This can often lead to an overall improvement in their school capabilities. What’s more, some of the techniques that they learn from their private tuition sessions can also be transferred to other subjects.
Due to the ever-increasing pressure that school staff are under, school lessons can often move quickly and many students don’t grasp every aspect of a topic before it’s time to move on. This is often due to time constraints and the vast amount of curriculum coverage that needs to be taught within the school year.
With private tuition, students are given the opportunity to concentrate on those topics that they don’t fully understand, because without the basics, learning gets more and more difficult as time goes on.
The ‘one to one’ nature of private tuition means that tutors can quickly identify areas in which a student may need to improve – something that students may not be able to identify on their own.
Sometimes all it takes to instil a little confidence in a student is to have a tutor who can identify what they are doing correctly and suggest how they may improve.
All tuition is provided in the comfort of your own home or we can discuss alternative arrangements if necessary.
One to One & Small Groups
Sessions can either be focussed on a specific subject of multiple subjects. The choice is yours!
We know how stressful the task of completing homework can be in many households, therefore let us take the strain off you.
Homework can be completed during the tuition sessions to relieve the pressure at home.
When school tests are looming, Hands Up Education Services can offer extra support and guidance.
Here at Hands Up Education Services we like to be organised and prepared for our sessions. Therefore we will provide all the resources needed for each session (pencils, paper, books…)
All we ask is that if sessions are being held in your house, please provide a quiet work space.
‘Like’ and ‘Follow’ Hands Up Education Services on Facebook and Twitter for regular support regarding the ever changing world of Education.
Initial Consultation is FREE!
Simply get in touch, via the various contact options to arrange an initial consultation.
This will give us an opportunity to meet up in a mutually convenient location and get to know what you, as parents/carers, would like your child to get out of the sessions. I will spend time getting to know your child’s likes, dislikes and preferences.

I know how hectic life can be, so I will not charge for cancelled/postponed sessions.

Hi – I’m Hannah, a fully qualified Primary School teacher with seven years of teaching experience since graduating from University. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to have a look into Hands Up Education Services. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Here you can find out a bit more about my career and life so far.
Prior to beginning my Primary Education degree, I fulfilled an ambition to work on a voluntary basis in Africa. It was a very worthwhile, life changing experience that was extremely challenging, yet very rewarding. This experience, as well as many others since, has impacted on my ability to teach pupils about different cultures, as I can offer a first-hand account of the experiences I gained.
Having worked with a diverse range of people has allowed me to help children gain an understanding of the different ethnicities and beliefs that make up the world. I value this diversity and difference and I am committed to ensuring equal opportunities and inclusion where everyone is treated on a mutually respectful basis.
My placement at a summer camp in California in 2008 was extremely satisfying and allowed me to fulfil my dedication to working as part of a team and educate children in a motivating and enjoyable way.
I graduated from The University of Wales Institute Cardiff with a BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS in 2009 and spent the next academic year as a supply teacher in a variety of schools across South Wales and the South West.
My first full time teaching position was at a school in West London. This job was a fantastic kick-start to my teaching career. I worked my way from Class Teacher up to Year Group Leader and absolutely loved my job.
In 2015 I gave birth to my first child and my partner and I decided to move our little family to Wales so that we could be closer to my family. I am now part of the Senior Leadership Team at a school in Bristol and work there three days a week as a Phonics and Reading Leader. I spend the rest of my week with my son, which is always lots of fun! We love to explore the great outdoors, catch up with friends and family and often end up in a soft play centre if the weather isn’t in our favour!
I decided to start up Hands Up Education Services, as I have tutored several children in the past and really missed teaching children in an informal setting. I love seeing the progress that children can make during tuition sessions and the flexibility of being able to take lessons outside of the classroom. It goes without saying but rest assured, I have a full DBS (formerly CRB) check and full, clean driving licence.
As you will know, the pressure on schools is increasing on a daily basis and children need to master their learning before moving on. My aim is to allow children to develop their skills and knowledge in an informal session whilst still following the National Curriculum.
I am based in Wales but offer tuition services across South East Wales and parts of the South West of England (Bristol, South Gloucestershire). Please get in touch to find out more.
I look forward to hearing from you,
